A January Escape to Sarasota
I’m never spontaneous. Like, ever. But earlier this year, the pull of sunshine and salt air was strong—and with some time off work finally lining up, I convinced a friend to escape to Florida with me in January.
Not a bad idea, right?
Of course, winter had other plans. While we were soaking up warm Gulf breezes, nearly the entire country was dealing with snow, ice, and record-cold temperatures. What should have been a simple four-hour trip home turned into a day-and-a-half adventure complete with canceled flights, airline swaps, and unexpected airports. Travel chaos at its finest.
And honestly? Still worth it.
Between the midday glow and the soft pull of sunset, Sarasota gave me exactly what I didn’t know I needed: quiet beaches, palms swaying in warm light, and water that seemed to stretch on forever. I slowed down. I breathed deeper. I relaxed, soaked up some sun (and yes—some rum), and let my camera do what it loves most.
These images are all about that feeling—the calm, the warmth, the light that only the Gulf Coast seems to hold. From bright, sunlit afternoons to golden-hour reflections, this body of work captures Sarasota as I experienced it: easy, luminous, and endlessly soothing.
I’ll be curating 8–10 of these images into a new release—the Sarasota Collection—launching Wednesday, February 11. Each print is meant to bring a little of that coastal calm into your space, whether you’re dreaming of warmer days or simply craving a breath of fresh air.
For now, I hope you enjoy this preview of the Sarasota Collection—a quiet overview of the images and moments that inspired it.
If one of these scenes speaks to you, I’d love for you to come back and make it part of your home. The full Sarasota Collection will be released on Wednesday, February 11, and email subscribers will be the first to know when it goes live.
If you’d like a reminder when the collection launches (and occasional updates on new work and releases), be sure to join my email list. I’d love to have you along.
Thanks so much for being here—I can’t wait to share the rest with you.
